United in Spirit, Sharpened in Form

Wednesday Evening Energy – 100 Push-Ups and Sword Mastery

This Wednesday evening’s Haedong Kumdo class was all about team spirit, discipline, and progress.

We kicked things off with a challenge: 100 push-ups. It wasn’t just about physical strength—it was about unity. Together, as a team, we encouraged and pushed each other through every rep. No one was left behind, and the collective energy in the room made every push-up count. The challenge was a testament to our group’s determination and mutual support.

With our spirits high and blood pumping, we transitioned into a focused session on all sword forms, beginning from scratch. It was a chance to reset, revisit fundamentals, and rebuild our technique with fresh awareness.

Due to time, Tjardo and I took on an extra climb—progressing through the forms all the way up to Yedo Kumbup 8. Each step felt like ascending a mountain, both mentally and physically. We wrapped up the evening feeling energized, accomplished, and more connected than ever—to the art and to each other.

This is what martial arts is about: growth, perseverance, and community.
