We are excited to announce a truly special event in the world of Haedong Kumdo: the first international Haedong Kumdo Seminar in Belgium, taking place at the end of May 2025! This seminar will bring together martial artists from around the globe to train, compete, and grow in their martial arts journey. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!
Event Overview
The seminar will span several days, filled with workshops, training, and competitions. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, this seminar offers something for everyone. Here’s what you can expect:
Kimu Session: May 29th (Thursday) – 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Our seminar kicks off with the Kimu Session at Mudori Lanaken. This session is designed to help you connect deeper with the flow of energy in your body, setting the tone for the days ahead. The session costs €25 and is a great way to begin the weekend of training.
Single Sword Workshop: May 30th (Friday) – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
On Friday, we return to Mudori Lanaken for the Single Sword Workshop. During this full-day workshop, you’ll refine your skills with the single sword, working through key techniques and improving your power and precision. The workshop costs €45, and we will be training in two sessions throughout the day.
Double Sword Workshop: May 31st (Saturday) – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturday will focus on the Double Sword Workshop, where you will learn advanced techniques and strategies for handling two swords simultaneously. This workshop is also held at Mudori Lanaken, and costs €45. It’s a challenging and rewarding experience, helping you expand your skills with two blades.
Belgian Open Championships: June 1st (Sunday)
Sunday is competition day! The Belgian Open Championships will feature several exciting categories where you can showcase your skills:
- Paper Cutting: Perform various exercises and tackle different levels of difficulty.
- Ssangsu Kumbop: Display your energy flow, power, and precision in this dynamic form.
- Ssang Kumbop Mastery: Compete in a demonstration of your perfected Ssang Kumbop form, aiming for the gold medal!
- Sword Dance: Get creative with your own sword dance and impress the judges with your artistry and technical ability.
This day promises to be filled with high-energy competition, friendly rivalry, and plenty of inspiration!
Black Belt Workshop: June 2nd (Monday) – 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
After the excitement of the seminar, we’ll conclude with a Black Belt Workshop led by Grandmaster Kim. This exclusive session is open only to black belts and will focus on advanced techniques and mastery. The workshop will take place at Mudori Lanaken, and the cost is €35.
Practical Information
- Location: All workshops and sessions will be held at Mudori Lanaken in Belgium.
- Travel: The best airport to fly into is Maastricht. However, if you are traveling from another location, please reach out to the Belgian Haedong Kumdo JSKR representative, Ben De Busser, for assistance with your travel plans.
- Accommodation: There are various accommodation options near Mudori Lanaken. You can check with the local organizers for recommendations if needed.
