Focused Flow: A Private Black Belt Session with Tjardo

This week’s highlight comes from an intense yet fulfilling 3-hour private training session in preparation for the upcoming Belgium Event. Training alongside Tjardo—who’s currently on the path toward testing for his 2nd Dan Black Belt—was not just inspiring, but also a reminder of the value of shared focus and commitment on the martial arts journey.

We captured a 30-second compilation from the session, showcasing Yedo Kumbup forms 4 through 6. Each movement reflects not only precision and power, but the quiet determination that Tjardo brings into every training. It’s clear that his upcoming test isn’t just a goal—it’s a calling.

Beyond Yedo Kumbup, we also dove deep into Kibon Ki-Mu and refined the full sequence of Double Sword Forms 1 through 7. Hours seemed to fly as we worked in sync, tuning each technique, every transition, until form and flow felt effortless. The energy in the gym was sharp yet grounded, built on mutual respect and the shared joy of getting it right—together.

This session was a great reminder that while martial arts is often an individual pursuit, the path is best walked (and sometimes sprinted) with teammates who challenge and uplift you. Here’s to continued progress, powerful forms, and the spirit of brotherhood in the Dojang. Tjardo, your focus and work ethic are inspiring—looking forward to seeing you crush that 2.Dan test!
