Day 4 – Twin Blades and Deep Energy
Saturday, May 31 – Double Sword Skills, Healing & Vision
By now, we were fully immersed in the rhythm of the event—early mornings, strong breakfasts, and the quiet thrill of stepping into another day of mastery. And yes… we finally nailed our dramatic Xzibit entry music on the parking lot. It set the perfect tone: today was going to be legendary.
We entered a packed Dojang, buzzing with energy. Dojangs from across the region had gathered—united in a shared anticipation: today, we would train in double sword skills.
I had the honor of leading the group warm-up. As I stood before the sea of focused faces, I could feel the collective intention. The warriors were ready. Grandmaster Kim then set the foundation by outlining the three essential pillars of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu:
- Skill,
- Philosophy,
- Healing.
The morning deepened. Dominic guided us with exceptional clarity through the fundamental cuts and stances, building a strong base for what was to come. The Grandmaster then took the lead—pushing us to find flow and connection between the blades.
From there, we broke into smaller practical study groups, both inside and outside the Dojang, learning brand-new double sword forms. Each blade in hand became an extension of the body, the rhythm sharper, the movements more fluid.
Then came sparring—refinement, resistance, and revelation. The double sword matches were fierce yet respectful, and the demo rounds that followed were inspiring. Every pairing revealed new nuances in timing, precision, and presence.
Later, we thanked Ben for organizing such a powerful event and captured the energy of the day with group photos—a frozen moment of shared growth and camaraderie.
After a brief rest, the focus shifted inward. Grandmaster Kim led a deeply restorative healing session, using vipassana acupuncture to clear energy blockages and alleviate physical strain. Silence, breath, and focused touch brought stillness to the warrior’s body.
The day closed with the rich warmth of Indonesian food and an enriching conversation with Grandmaster Kim and Master Harrie. We reflected on the past few days and looked forward—with inspiration and intent.
One final announcement lifted everyone’s spirit:
👉 A European Championship in the Netherlands is on the horizon next year.
The journey continues. We’re just getting started.
Swords in hand, hearts aligned, and eyes set on the path ahead.
